ch = chain

ch1-p = chain-1-picot

ch5-p = chain-5-picot

dc = double crochet

rep = repeat

sc = single crochet

sk = skip

sl st = slip stitch

st = stitch

tr = treble crochet

Diameter: 12 centimeters (4.72 inches)

Notes and Tips

  • This pattern is written using US crochet terms
  • The number in (parentheses) at the end of each row is the stitch count after finishing that row
  • The chain 1 or 2 at the beginning of each round does NOT count as a stitch
  • The slip stitch at the end of each round goes into the first stitch of that round
  • The first stitch of Rounds 2-3 goes into the same stitch we slip stitched to in the previous round

Crochet Sunflower Coaster Pattern

Flower Center

Foundation: With 4mm hook and brown yarn, make a magic ring or make a slipknot, ch4, sl st to 1st ch to form a ring

Round 1: ch2, dc12 into ring, sl st (12)

Round 2: ch2, dc2 in each st around, sl st (24)

Flower Petals

Switch to 4.5mm hook.

Round 3: ch1, rep[sc in next 3 st, ch5-p] around, sl st, fasten off (24 sc, 8 ch5-p)

Switch back to 4mm hook and attach gold yarn to any single crochet in the middle of the 3 in a row.

Round 4: *[dc3, tr2, ch1-p, tr2, dc3] into next ch5-p, sk1, sl st, rep from * around, fasten off (8 petals)
