Pattern Information
Materials
- 10 grams/19 yards of medium weight yarn (Red Heart Super Saver in “Burgundy” and “Soft White”)
- 5mm Clover Amour crochet hook
- Scissors
- Yarn needle

Overall: 11 centimeters wide x 11 centimeters long (4.3 x 4.3 inches)
Notes and Tips
- This pattern is written using US crochet terms
- The number in (parentheses) at the end of each row is the stitch count after finishing that row
- Change colors by pulling the new color through the last two loops of the last treble crochet in the old color
- The chain 3 or 4 at the beginning of each round does count as a double or treble crochet
Crochet Heart Granny Square Pattern
Heart
Foundation: With your heart color yarn, make a slipknot, ch4
Note: You can substitute this foundation with a magic ring instead.
The ch3 counts as the first double crochet.
Round 1: dc11 into 4th ch from hook, sl st to top of ch3 (12)

Note: In Round 2, the bolded ch1 marks the point at the bottom of the heart. The stitches are mirrored on either side of this ch1.
Round 2: sk2, tr8 into third st, dc in each of next 2 st, [dc, tr] in next st, ch1, [tr, dc] in next st, dc in each of next 2 st, tr8 into next st, switching colors on last tr, sl st between first and last st of Round 1 (24 st, ch1 at bottom point)

Change to your square color yarn on the last treble crochet by pulling the new color through the last two loops.



Forming Square Around Heart
The ch4 in the next round counts as the first treble crochet.
Round 3: ch4, tr2 in same st, ch1, sk3, [sc3, ch2, sc3] in next st, ch1, sk2, sc3 in next st,

ch1, sk2, [dc3, ch2, dc3] in next st, ch1, sk2, sc3 in ch, ch1, sk2, [dc3, ch2, dc3] in next st,

ch1, sk2, sc3 in next st, ch1, sk2, [sc3, ch2, sc3] in next st, ch1, sk3, sl st to top of ch4 (12 cl)

Round 4: ch3, dc2 into sp below, ch1, dc3 in next sp, ch1, *[dc3, ch2, dc3] in next sp,** rep[ch1, dc3 in next sp] 2 times, ch1, rep from * ending last rep at **, ch1, sl st to top of ch3 (16 cl)

Note: You can make the square bigger by adding more rounds doing [dc2, ch2, dc2] in each of the four corner spaces and dc3 in each space along the sides. Clusters will be separate by ch1 except for the corners.
