Project Level
This easy crochet shoulder bag tutorial is for those that are slightly more advanced than beginner! This bag is worked in rounds, which an absolute beginner may not be familiar with. Also, the attachment of the strap can be a little difficult, but you can crochet the strap separately, then sew it on. The rest is pretty easy. We use half double crochet for the entire project!
Materials
- 100 grams of #4 or medium weight yarn (Red Heart Super Saver yarn in “Café Latte“)
- 5mm hook (I recommend Clover Amour crochet hook)
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
Final Dimensions
The bag will be approximately 22 cm (9 inches) wide and 14 cm (5.5 inches)
Notes and Tips
- This pattern is written using US crochet terms
- Tighten your slip stitches to make the seam smaller and less visible
- The chain 1 at the beginning of each round does NOT count as a half double crochet
- If you’re having trouble with the bag strap, consider chaining the length of the strap you want and half double crocheting across it. Then, simply sew the strap onto the ends of the bag
- Weave in your loose ends on the inside of the bag
Abbreviations
ch = chain
st = stitch

This is so cute😊 Is this in US or UK terms?
It’s in US terms!
I love the simplicity of this. I’m a crochet teacher, so introducing single crochet this way will hopefully encourage them to keep going!
Amazing and great idea!!
Thanks for the written pattern. You are very kind.
You’re very welcome!!
