Beginner Crochet Project
This pattern was designed with a beginner in mind. It uses very little yarn and works up quickly, so beginner crocheters can easily complete their first project.
If you have never touched a crochet hook, make sure to view the tutorial if any part of the written pattern is confusing for you! Also, please leave any questions in the comments if you have any.

Sizing and Yarn & Hook Size
The width of this hairband will depend on the yarn and hook size you choose. A thicker yarn and hook size will result in a thicker and wider hairband. In contrast, using a thinner yarn and hook will make it thinner and less wide.
The length, however, can be adjusted by the number of rows you do. For a smaller head, you can do fewer rows. For a bigger head, you can do more rows.
The two hairbands in the image below were made with the same hook size (5.5mm) and exact same pattern. The only difference was the yarn. The wider hairband in the image below was made with a #4 weight yarn, the same as the one made in the written pattern. The thinner hairband was made with a #3 weight yarn.

Notes and Tips
- This pattern is written using US crochet terms

- Italicized notes tell you what to change to adjust the size
- The chain 3 at the beginning of each row counts as a double crochet and chain 1
Mesh Crochet Hairband Pattern
Foundation: Make a slipknot, ch40+3
Tip: Tighten your 40th chain to minimize the hole from Row 1.
Note: Do fewer chains in your foundation for a shorter strap or do more chains for a longer strap. This will be the length from your ear to the nape of your neck, plus the length needed to tie a knot.

Row 1: dc3 in 4th ch from hook (4)

Row 2: ch3, turn, rep[dc in next st, ch1] 2 times, dc in ch3-sp (4 dc, 3 ch)

Rows 3-22: ch3, turn, rep[dc in next st, ch1] 2 times, dc in ch3-sp (4 dc, 3 ch)
Tip: Do the last double crochet in the far left of the ch3-sp, so there is a ch1 gap between the last two double crochets.

Note: Do fewer rows for a shorter hairband or more rows for a longer hairband. This will be the length over your head from one ear to the other.

Row 23: ch2, turn, dc in next 2 st, dc in ch3-sp (4)
Tip: Do the last double crochet in the far left of the ch3-sp, so there is a ch1 gap between the last two double crochets.

Row 24: ch2, turn, dc3tog over the next 2 st and the ch2-sp (1)

Strap: ch40, fasten off
Note: If you did a different number of chains in the beginning, chain that same number instead of 40.

Trim both tails to about an inch long and your crochet hairband is finished!
