Heart Size and Yarn/Hook Size

The size of this amigurumi heart will depend on the yarn and hook you use. The larger the yarn and hook, the larger the heart. In the image below, you can see three different hearts that I crocheted.

The one on the left was crocheted using a 4mm hook. It is the smallest of the three. The one in the middle was crocheted with a 5mm hook. It is also the one pictured throughout the pattern. It is very slightly bigger than the first heart. The heart on the right is the largest of the three. It was made with an 8mm hook and 2 strands of yarn. This made the stitches bigger, and as a result, made the heart bigger

Notes and Tips

  • This pattern is written using US crochet terms
  • The number in (parentheses) at the end of each row is the stitch count after finishing that row
  • The chain 1 at the beginning of each round does NOT count as a single crochet
  • The slip stitch at the end of each round goes into the first stitch of that round
  • Tighten your slip stitches to make the seam less visible and to avoid mistaking it as a stitch
  • The first stitch of every new round goes into the same stitch we slip stitched to in the previous round

If the hole at the bottom of the heart after the final round is small enough, simply hide your loose end inside the heart. If polyfill can come out, cinch the 4 remaining stitches closed and hide your loose end inside the heart.

Finished Crochet Heart Amigurumi

Shape the heart by rounding out the top and pointing the bottom, and your crochet heart amigurumi is finished!
